ABSTRACT
sociology. He had enriched sociology through numerous social research. Cooley influenced by the pragmatic Philosophy of William James and John Dewey. He was also influenced by German psychology and Darwinism. In this paper, some theories of C. H. Cooley has been discussed. These are- organic Evolution, Primary Group and Looking Glass self.
    Cooley's organic Evolution was different from spencer's organic Evolution. Here Cooley first highlighted on the complex relationship of individual and society. Cooley first depicted about "Primary Group." According to him, Primary Group is the base of Society. Codey elaborated about the features of Primary Group. In this paper, secondary Group by Cooley also has been discussed. Lastly, Cooley’s theory of Looking - Glass-Self was another important theory. In his book "Human Nature and The Social Order”, his theory about self has been discussed. Cooley analysed his theories through different social research. His scientific approach and Logical mentality have been explored through his Looking Glass- self theory. In the present paper, the theory of CH. Cooley has been narrated. Cooley is memorable to us through his writings. Modern Sonological theory cannot repudiate his powerful thinking and systematic writings.
