ABSTRACT | ||
In this paper, I have tried to explain the views of Wittgenstein about the theory of meaning i.e meaning, understanding and use of language. He was a great linguistic philosopher. As a linguistic philosopher, he thinks that, the main cause of arising the philosophical problems is misunderstanding of language. We know that, the entire philosophy of Wittgenstein is divided into two phases: Early Wittgenstein and Later Wittgenstein. In these two phases, he believed that a proper understanding of language was necessary to solve the philosophical problems. According to him, to understand the language properly, it is necessary to determine the meaning of the various units of the language such as proposition, name, word etc. For this reason, Wittgenstein has discussed the logical analysis of language, understanding and use of language to determine the meaning of sentence, name, word etc. In this connection, I have tried to critically examine how much effective the use of language, understanding and logical analysis of language to solve the problem of theory of meaning.
