ABSTRACT
This study explores the impact of visualization and imagery techniques on enhancing performance and emotion regulation among horse-polo players. A randomized controlled experimental design was employed, involving 20 players who were divided into intervention and control groups. The intervention group participated in a structured visualization and imagery program, while the control group received no such training. Pre- and post-intervention assessments were conducted using performance metrics and validated psychological measures, including the Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS) and the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ).
Results revealed significant improvements in the intervention group, with increased scoring accuracy, goals scored, and overall performance. Additionally, the intervention group showed a marked increase in positive affect and cognitive reappraisal, along with a reduction in negative affect. Advanced statistical analyses, including mixed ANOVA and regression models, confirmed the effectiveness of visualization and imagery techniques in enhancing both performance and emotion regulation. These findings underscore the potential of psychological skills training in optimizing athletic performance in horse-polo players.
