ABSTRACT | ||
Life of philosophy and educational concept of Rabindranath was closely involved. Looking at the controversial problem of homeland as well as human society, the source of experience that he has obtained through his unrelenting search and survey is that it is possible to strike at the core of the problems in the way of pursuing the liberation of the heart through sadhana. Original intellect is the only way and this awakening can come only through the appropriate education. He realized that only the upper and middle class people of the country were getting the opportunity to get education in the system introduced by the English. Majority of people especially poor working people living in villages are deprived from the light of education. He thinks that to improve the way of life of these people, all the facilities should be provided along with their education. He wanted to prepare the foundation of Gonzagaran through public education. He thinks that education can developed the individual's self power and awaken independent consciousness. He gave utmost importance to education in the rural development programme. In his educational thought, enlightenment of the mind and emergence of power both gained importance. He strove throughout his life to implement his educational thought in the field of values education, applied studies and rural reconstruction through the institution like Viswa Bharati, Shantiniketan, Srinekatan for the welfare of human society.
