ABSTRACT
Among the many renowned art types of Nadia's capital city Krishnanagar, a very prominent one is shola art. In the field of making adorned deities, wedding crowns et cetra, this local art is irreplaceable. The locality named Bagdipara is specifically dedicated to this art form. This art form was established by artist Manmatha Bag. The ancestors of the Bagdis worked in the Raj bari(palace). They had a water-centric life. The same water was the origin of the shola art. This art form is currently carried on by artist Prafulla Chandra Bag, Basudeb Bag, Sahadeb Bag, Goutam Bag and so on. Apart from them, Tulsi Malakar, Tarakchandra Malakar, Subrata Malakar have continued this work with full dedication. In present times, precipitation has been receeding, the shola form could not grow much. Apart from this, due to some other issues, artists have been facing discomfort. Yet with cordial love, artists have caused maximum prosperity to this art. Sholas are collected in a specific method and then adding other ingredients with them, artists gift us a great aesthetic. With this, the adornment of by post is mentionable. Rangta was collected by post from Germany. What was used with shola to make the Devi extremely beauteous, is bought from the market to save expense in today's era. However, these are not metallic pieces.
