Krishna Mondal, Independent Research Scholar, Berhampore, West Bengal, India
ABSTRACT
Yogendra Nath Mandal of Barisal was a prominent leader of the Namasudra community in undivided Bengal. Rising from a humble Namasudra family through arduous struggle, he ascended to the leadership of the community and played a pivotal role in the fight to establish the political rights of the Namasudras. Commencing his political journey with the Provincial Assembly elections of 1937, he continued as a legislator to wage a lifelong battle for the development and political rights of the Scheduled Castes.
