ABSTRACT | ||
This study explores the socio-political effects of the caste system in India through the prism of B. R. Ambedkar's political beliefs, and proposes solutions for its abolition. The caste system, which is based on hierarchical social stratification, has traditionally resulted in systemic discrimination, social exclusion, economic disparity, and denial of basic human rights, notably among Dalits and other oppressed people. This research draws on Ambedkar's critique of caste as an instrument of oppression to highlight his support for social justice, equality, and constitutional democracy. The paper explores Ambedkar's major political contributions, such as his emphasis on legal protections, affirmative action, and the abolition of caste via social transformation and education. It also examines the continued relevance of his views in modern India, where caste-based disparities persist despite constitutional restrictions. | ||
