ABSTRACT
Achintyakumar Sengupta was one of the foremost poets of the Kallol era. We know that in the context of Bengali poetry in the 30s and 40s of the 20th Century, one of the few magazines around which modernity began is 'Kallol'. Kallol is not just a magazine, Kallol is an era. In every poet of this era there was a frenzy of rebellion, creating sparks of protest and resistance and channeling it into poetry and literature. Achintyakumar Sengupta took that path in his early life as a poet. But after the Second World War, the spark of rebellion is not seen in his poems written in the period after 1950 AD, where the themes of ultimate Godism and devotionalism become prominent. In other words, his poetry eventually became spiritual.
As a marginal poet of Bengali literature, Achintyakumar Sengupta has remained forever unknown. Judging by the style of his various ideologies and devotional poems, it is shown how the Rati which prevailed in the romanticism of his paintings, finally reached the Aarti. Sri Sri Tagore's closeness to Ramakrishna further expanded his devotional consciousness. In the early stages of his poetry, the idea of God was hidden in the form of a seed, and in the latter, the spiritual sap grew in his poetry.
By judging the style of his various poems, we have seen that the more God-oriented he became, the more his poetic theory became impregnated with devotion, spiritual juice. This is how the poetic style of his God-contemplative poems was created. In order to get rid of the circle of crisis of an age, he tried to present a devotional speech in poetry. This attempt removed him from the Kallol group and he became a traveler on a lonely path. In that way Achintyakumar's biography has been transformed into Bhakti.
